Job Background:
Key objectives
·         To lead and manage the team delivering medical education and communication projects.

·         To ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the specification/brief, to the project schedule and within budget.

·         To develop education and communication programmes and/or proposals that contribute to ongoing account development and/or new business development.

Job Duties:

·         Contribute to the development, manage the delivery and assure the quality of education and communication projects.

·         Take line management responsibility for the team members and work closely with the Vice President to ensure performance management, staff development, succession and resource planning takes place.

·         Plan resource and delegate responsibilities within the team so that account objectives are achieved.

·         Mentor team and facilitate ongoing training and career development in accordance with set objectives.

·         Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and guidelines concerning the promotion and interaction with healthcare professionals.

·         Provide consultancy advice in areas of expertise within and across departments and divisions.

·         Establish, develop and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical industry and healthcare professional key contacts.

·         Utilise and manage freelance and contract freelance assistance (commissioning/briefing freelancers).

·         Utilise experience and expertise to assist with new business development proposals and pitches.


Job Qualifications:
·         Educated to degree level or higher in a biomedical science, with several years’ writing experience in a communications agency environment or equivalent, including management experience in a multidisciplinary teamwork environment.

·         Significant knowledge of pharmaceutical drug development, regulations regarding the approval and licensing of drug products, and the laws and guidelines that govern product marketing and interaction with healthcare professionals

·         Excellent scientific writing and ability to assure the quality of medical education and communication materials.

·         Attention to detail – style/consistency, grammar, syntax, scientific accuracy, proof-reading, layout, etc.

·         Excellent leadership, motivational, interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Excellent project management, organisational and budgetary control skills.

·         Problem solving, diplomacy and influencing skills.

·         Creative ability in contributing new education or communications concepts and in the production of engaging written and presentation products.

·         High-level IT skills (including Microsoft Office, database and internet searching)

·         Experience with range of media, including print and multi-media (video, CD-ROM and web-based)

·         Good understanding and implementation of operating procedures.

·         Presentation, interview and appraisal skills.
