The team is comprised of seasoned pharmaceutical marketeers, scientifically-trained editorial staff and our own creative design and digital studios – together they provide strategic communications and medical education solutions for the international pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Job Duties:
Purpose

The Senior Editor’s responsibilities include carrying out a variety of quality control (QC)editing/proofing tasks to a high standard, project management, evaluation of resourcing, financial awareness and liaison with external customers

To champion editorial processes and be a source of information on these processes for the company as a whole
To line manage and mentor junior members of the Editorial Team.
Reports to

Chief Operating Officer

Key result areas
Excellence in standards of quality control and editing
Deep understanding of core editorial team processes (e.g. working with journals, copyright etc)
Effective at working with other team members and external contacts
Effective management of workload and prioritisation
Effective coaching and training of other members of the ET.

Roles and responsibilities
The Senior Editor is responsible for QC/editing and proofing of all types of material including:
Manuscripts/first drafts written in Word by Medical Writers (MW)
PowerPoint (PPT) presentations
Artworked items
Proposals/pitch presentations
Corporate marketing materials

•        The Senior Editor should be adept at interpreting and incorporating client comments (working in conjunction with Medical Writers)
•        The Senior Editor will be required to check work carried out by other members of the ET and provide constructive feedback
•        The Senior Editor should be experienced in all aspects of editorial services and able to provide training for other members of the ET including:
o        An excellent appreciation of editorial processes and the role of the Editor
o        Appreciation and knowledge of company house style
o        Conducting research in an efficient and effective manner
o        How to submit an article to a journal/understanding of the publishing process
o        An understanding of copyright
•        The Senior Editor should adopt good practice and ‘set an example’ regarding day-to-day procedures including:
o        Filing and management of job bags – electronic and paper
o        Organisation and prioritisation of workload
o        Observing company house style and editorial processes
o        Timesheeting accurately
•        The Senior Editor will be required to develop a good understanding of financial procedures and is expected to have a commercial approach – they may be required to check/advise on budget allocation etc
•        The Senior Editor should have an aptitude for writing and may be required to contribute to corporate/project-related materials
•        The Senior Editor will be a member of the OMT and is required to participate within Marketing and News teams

Job Qualifications:
Key Skills
An excellent eye for detail
Proven ability to QC/edit/proof a variety of written and electronic materials
Ability to mentor/train/develop other/junior members of the ET
Ability to demonstrate a logical/methodical approach to project/time management
Ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively – a good ‘multi-tasker’
A good team player – as a member of a central resource must be able to communicate/interact effectively with all functions in the agency including finance, studio, business development etc
Confidence when dealing with external clients
A good financial/commercial approach to project/team management
Excellent written communication
An aptitude for writing
A good understanding of the purpose/aims of healthcare marketing/communications (or related field)
Ability to retain and utilise project-/client-related information for a range of therapy areas, with an appreciation of commercial context
