Strategic medico-marketing consultancy which specialises in providing commercial support to marketing and licensing teams in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Job Duties:
A client-facing role that is very varied and broad ranging and involves working with a small team of very experienced colleagues (business analysts, commercial strategists) to deliver our clients’ projects. Key aspects of this Medical Affairs position will include: Researching therapeutic areas to identify epidemiology, unmet medical needs and current treatment practices Analysis of the competitive environment, including using proprietary databases to develop product pipelines Developing target product profiles Preparing reviews of product and competitor literature These activities will contribute to a range of client projects, which are illustrated by the following typical examples: Identifying the global commercial potential for a new CNS drug, including development of a sales forecast Providing a global commercial assessment of several cardiovascular diseases to support a company’s licensing strategy Assessing the unmet needs in an orphan respiratory indication Assessing the commercial potential of a phase II oncology in-licensing candidate, and developing the brand strategy Running a series of workshop to develop life-cycle management strategies for a complex product franchise
Job Qualifications:
You must have extensive experience of providing technical input to healthcare strategic marketing including identifying unmet medical needs, competitor analysis, developing differentiated product profiles and ensuring commercial strategy and claims are acceptable from a technical, ethical and promotional regulatory perspective. You will excel in analysing large volumes of medical data to distil the key commercial implications. Experience of working with early stage brands (pre-clinical to phase 2) or assessment of licensing candidates would be an advantage. This role combines a strong scientific grounding with sound commercial acumen. It is likely that you will have a good pharmacy, life-science or medical degree together with research experience before having moved into a global commercial strategy or medical affairs role within a pharmaceutical company or healthcare agency. Key skills include the ability to seek and critically assess information, put it into context and evaluate its commercial impact. A proven ability to build good relationships with clients in a variety of functions (commercial, clinical, discovery, regulatory) and opinion leaders is also required.
