Our client is a leading independent healthcare communications group, with offices around the world.
They are looking for an Associate Scientific Advisor to provide scientific documents for publication or internal use according to client needs and project objectives. You will also be responsible for writing, editing, and proof-reading text for products and working with the design and production teams to produce a range of printed and computer-based materials that meet the needs of their clients.
Finally, interacting when requested with outside scientists and physicians on critical therapeutic and scientific issues.
Scientific Consultation
• Researching scientific areas and providing reviews of scientific and therapeutic areas relevant to client goals and requests
• Developing proposals on scientific themes to enhance our client’s position in client programs and to gain new business
• Interacting when appropriate with outside scientists and physicians to gain insight for client programs and to enhance outside reputation of our client.
Editorial
Research and information management
• Researching and sourcing appropriate information for editorial projects and proposals, often within a tight timeframe, using resources available within the company, efficiently and effectively
• Tracking references using our client’s Reference Manager system and creating and maintaining appropriate databases and filing systems for in-house information
General writing
• Taking, interpreting, and developing briefs from colleagues and clients
• Conceptual development for editorial projects
• Drafting and editing work in different writing styles and targeted at different audiences in different therapeutic areas
Business Development
• Assisting with, or taking the lead role, in the creative development and preparation of proposals and pitches for new business; attending and presenting at pitches where deemed appropriate
Client Support
On-site meeting attendance
Attending conferences, scientific symposia, and advisory boards where required, and undertaking on-site activities as deemed appropriate (e.g. front-of-house duties, printing and duplicating slide-sets, running slide review meetings with client)
Project Management
Project management of one or more editorial projects (e.g. CME-accredited training materials)
Providing guidance on editorial time for project estimates/schedules where requested by senior editorial colleagues
1. A bachelor’s degree in the life sciences required, ideally combined with a Master’s degree or PhD
2. At least four year’s relevant medical marketing writing experience (agency or pharmaceutical), or an appropriate combination of education and experience
3. General computer literacy required, and competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and online medical resources such as Medline
