Our client is a growing medical communications agency that creates medical education and communication solutions for the International pharmaceutical industry. They are currently looking for a Medical Writing Team Leader to join their team.
The purpose of the role will be to:
• Lead a medical writing team in the production of high-quality strategic communication programmes and materials
• Provide high-level scientific and strategic direction to support existing account teams and new business activities
• Manage day-to-day workflow within a medical writing team, ensuring efficient, cost-effective and timely delivery of project work
• Take overall responsibility for the quality of communication programmes and written materials produced by medical writing team, providing or overseeing internal medical sign-off
• Provide direction, support and troubleshooting for team to ensure successful project delivery
• Apply high-level client liaison skills, actively contributing to client/opinion leader meetings and facilitating these meetings as required. Establish and maintain good relationships with clients/opinion leaders
• Demonstrate commercial awareness and provide high-level scientific and strategic expertise for new business proposals and pitches, thereby maximising business opportunities with both existing and new clients
• Implement SOPs and quality control measures, ensuring these are adhered to within the team
• Proven expertise in line-management of medical writers
• Extensive experience in medical writing, reviewing and resource planning
• Excellent coaching/training/mentoring skills
• In-depth knowledge of medical communications business objectives, products and operating procedures
• Extensive experience with a wide range of medical communications materials, including publication planning, symposium and exhibition materials, pitch presentations and promotional materials (for a range of audiences)
• Excellent project/time management and organisational skills, with a proven track record of managing large medical communications programmes
• Ability to monitor team outputs, ensuring all written materials are of high scientific quality and meet client strategic marketing objectives
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, with demonstrated ability in coordinating and motivating staff to meet deadlines
• Commercial focus and financial awareness/ability to provide accurate hours estimates
• Excellent attention to detail
• Creativity and ability to think strategically
• Flexible attitude – managing ever-changing priorities
• Familiarity with code of practice guidelines
