Job Background:
To be a source of editorial and therapeutic expertise within the company. To provide, in conjunction with colleagues, strategic direction on new accounts while maintaining and developing current accounts. Effectively line manage and coach all reports to ensure excellence in project work and delivery across the communication mix.

As part of the Senior Management Team, actively contribute to executive business planning, decision making and accompanying implementation.

To provide leadership across the medical department with a focus on innovation.

Job Duties:
INNOVATION
•        Provide support and guidance to team members on client and project issues, as required
o        Develop new products and services
o        Generate ideas and processes to improve existing services
o        Hands on support to help deliver complex projects
o        Encourage proactivity and creativity within teams
•        Provide senior consultancy to clients as required.


INTERNAL LEADERSHIP
•        As a member of the Medical Management Team, contribute to the management of the department as a whole and provide leadership on designated areas of responsibility.
•        Lead, coach and motivate account/project teams; share best practice; provide support and guidance to team members on client and project issues.
•        Through effective line management ensure training, development and appraisal of all line reports, as required.
•        Actively participate training and development programme, coaching individual team members and leading workshops, as required.
•        Monitor, evaluate and promote quality processes and procedures to ensure clients receive class-leading outputs, as required.
•        Establish and maintain a consistent editorial standard and help other staff to ensure a high quality output.
•        Develop close working relationships with team members, thereby enabling provision of regular feedback on performance.
•        Contribute to account team succession planning and resource forcasting.
•        Lead account team/project status meetings.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERTISE
•        Combine in-depth scientific understanding of the product/therapy area with commercial/market awareness to provide high-level strategic and tactical communication planning within the company and for clients.
•        Review the product offering on an ongoing basis and to develop new capabilities in response to the regulatory environment, client needs and new technologies
•        Build Relationships with clients, key opinion leaders and other based on trust, mutual respect and maintenance of high standards.
•        Liaise effectively with the client and opinion leaders, acting as the primary point of contact according to the requirements of the account.
•        Provide proactive ideas and creative input to assist and challenge clients’ own thinking/planning.
•        Effectively troubleshoot/handle objections from the client/opinion leaders to ensure continuing good relationships.
•        Single-handedly manage client and opinion leader meetings of all types both in the UK and overseas, as required.
•        Ensure any changes in the internal account/project teams are managed and communicated appropriately with the client.
•        Proactively drive projects through to completion.

FINANCIAL
•        Contribute to the development of account plan forecasts in liaison with the Commercial Team.
•        Actively contribute to and review project specifications/cost estimates/reconciliations.
•        Ensure that any request for work outside the original specification is discussed with the client and communicated to the Commercial Team, as well as the wider project team.
•        Be proactive in tracking projects and chasing comments from the client, authors or speakers before the final deadline.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
•        Proactively identify and develop opportunities for organic growth and new business and new ideas for products.
•        Lead scientific content on proposal development and present at pitches.
•        Advise on which members of the medical team might be suitable for involvement in specific proposal and pitch activities.
UNIVERSAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Adhere to procedures and policies.
•        Work within agreed deadlines and budgets.
•        Follow style guidelines and processes.
•        Work collaboratively with colleagues in the UK and US to ensure that all account and departmental objectives are met.
•        Work collaboratively with members of the wider organisation as required.
•        Anything else reasonably required.
