Job Background:
We are a healthcare communications agency based in Surrey.

Our clients are primarily in the international pharmaceutical industry and we produce a range of bespoke solutions to their needs. Projects we work on include: international meetings, slide kits, training materials, websites and interactive CD-ROMs.

Job Duties:

The role involves:
Client liaison
Editing, proofreading (includes substantive editing such as adapting slides)
Briefing freelance writers, designers and other suppliers
Research (internet and telephone)
Referencing
Writing
Project management (admin, organisation, overseeing projects)Assisting the directors with proposal writing

Skills and competency levels expected:

Editing (and writing)        Of a high standard
Can check others’ work accurately and give them fair feedback
Can check and send work to a client (including other people’s work)
•Understand the principles of codes of practice (eg ABPI)

Lead a project        Can lead multiple projects and drive others (of all different levels) to achieve project goals
Can lead a project which involves multiple components being managed by different team members
Delegate effectively and in good time
Be part of other project teams        Give full commitment to all teams you are part of, including those where you have a task-based role
Support others with the skills you have
Follow instructions from Project Lead and keep them fully updated with your progress

Project management        Create accurate timelines which meet the client needs
High level of organisation
Keep job bags up-to-date
Highly accurate compiling of amends from all sources and checking they have been done

Speak to KOLs        Engage with KOLs and lead conversations in line with project undertaking

Speak to clients        Able to discuss all aspects of projects clearly and know when to refer/defer to another member of the team

Can discuss project finance at a basic level – eg if you increase the quantity/number of pages then it will cost more

Offer advice on project developments – eg should be 4pp, 4 colour/CD/web-based
Able to present a project to a client, either face-to-face or by teleconference
Can suggest improvements and extensions to a project to the client

Coordinate suppliers        Know when a freelancers/other supplier is needed
Plan in work for freelancers/others in good time
Brief suppliers with all appropriate information
Recognise whether costs are approx right
Have an idea of the standards we are trying to achieve
Understand where the difficulties might be for suppliers – particularly when things change in the scope of a project
Be flexible minded – change suppliers or look for new ones where needed

Understand the print production processKnow the most cost-effective solution
Understand the ramifications of client requests in terms of cost
Able to understand different processes and their implications – eg laminating

Cost management        Manage costs effectively
Proactively complete all necessary paperwork
Able to give an assessment of costs to date and costs expected overall on any project on which you are Project Lead

Guide Project Managers and Executives Support and guide Project Managers and Project Executives in their work
Check their work accurately and give fair and constructive feedback – through their line manager or Project Lead if necessary and as appropriate


Job Qualifications:
Life Science background or quivalent.

Knowledge of working in a Med Comms agency.
